The Open Talent session "Great Fires of the Twentieth Century: Grenfell Tower in London", with Mercedes Lago, Business Manager at Efectis, will take place at the Tech Talent Center (c/Badajoz, 73, Barcelona), on Thursday 28 November at 7 pm.

The fire which took place at Grenfell Tower in London on 14 June 2017 was one of the worst tragedies in recent decades, with 72 fatalities. Based on the data from the official investigation and the results of mid-scale and large-scale fire trials, Efectis has conducted a study to reconstruct and analyse the consequences of the accident, using fire simulation and thermomechanical calculation tools.

The speaker

Mercedes Lago is Head of Projects and Head of Business Development of the Efectis Group in Spain, Portugal and Latin America. She trained as an industrial engineer, and also holds the CFPA Europe Diploma in Fire Prevention, a master's degree in Building Structures and an Executive MBA.

She is a member of the Spanish Ministry of Public Works CTE - SI - Fire Safety Technical Commission, and a member of CTN 23 SC8 Fire Safety Engineering Committee.

She has taken part in numerous Fire Safety Engineering projects and large-scale Fire and Smoke Tests in various countries in Europe and Latin America, with clients including Amazon, the Madrid Regional Transport Consortium, Dragados, Inditex, Ineco, Merlin Properties and Sener.
