The UPC School offers advantageous conditions to enrol for its continuing education master's degrees, postgraduate courses and continuing education courses for alumni, UPC Alumni, disables people, members of professional associations etc. Check the options to apply for one of the discounts we offer on our website or contact us and we will gladly provide you with information.

Outside the UPC School environment, there are a number of bodies and institutions that give general financial support to postgraduate studies. On this page, you can search for the scholarship, loan or finance plan that best suits your needs. You will also find information about other, non-financial types of training support.

You can choose from these two options depending on whether you are interested in our programmes individually (i.e. as a person) or if you are a company wishing to enrol employees in your organisation.

Subsided learning: Individual learning permit (PIF)

Objective:

Individual Learning Permits (PIF, in Spanish) are intended for company workers to participate in learning activities without implying a cost to the company where they work.

PIF are those obtained by a worker from his/her company to participate in a learning activity that meets the requirements set out by the Fundación Estatal para la Formación en el Empleo (Fundae).

These permits grant up to 200 working hours per academic or natural year to attend courses and study to foster professional and personal development.

The number of permit hours granted to the employee for training can be compensated to the company from its credit for continuous learning.

Beneficiaries:

Any active worker contributing to the Social Security and has received authorization from the company for an Individual Learning Permit.

Requirements:

It is necessary that the training:

  • Must be taught in-class, at least the part of it for which the permit is applied for.
  • Must be recognised as an official degree, which may include own degrees of universities, such as those offered in the UPC School.

Application deadline:

There is no established deadline to apply for a PIF. A company can grant a PIF at any time during the year, as long as there is sufficient credit.

Further information:

For specific inquiries we advise that you fill out the contact form on the website of the Fundación Estatal para la Formación en el Empleo (Fundae):

Aids
Subsidised training: Training actions or individual learning permit (PIF)

Objective:

TRAINING ACTIONS: Companies have a yearly credit to co-finance training for their workers, based on the taking from the quotas for Professional Training during the previous year. This credit is calculated on the bases of applying a bonus percentage to this quantity that is set out in the Spanish General Budget Act and depends on the number of employees working in the company. This credit becomes effective through bonuses to Social Security contributions, meaning the company can deduct training costs from the social security contributions it pays. INDIVIDUAL

LEARNING PERMIT (PIF): Companies may also authorise Individual Learning Permits (PIF) for workers who apply to follow a course leading to obtaining a university degree. In this case, companies can apply for a bonus to cover salary costs (base salary, seniority, fixed complements and the proportional amount of bonus payments) and payments to the Social Security linked to the working hours (maximum 200 hours) when the worker is using their PIF.

Beneficiaries:

Any company contributing to the Social Security that is up-to-date in all its tax obligations having work centres in Spanish territory.

Requirements:

  • Meeting the duty to inform the legal representation of employees as set out in article 16 of the Order TAS/2307/2007.
  • Informing participants and the Fundación Estatal para la Formación en el Empleo (Fundae) before the training begins.
  • Completing the training which must be related to the company's activity.

Application deadline:

The bonus credit expires every year whether it is used or not. Training must take place entirely in a natural year; meaning it must be completed and notified by the 31st of December. Notifications of the start and end of training are done electronically to the Fundación Estatal para la Formación en el Empleo (Fundae) and this bonus can be made effective using the TC forms; meaning until the last TC of the year is submitted on the 31st of January of the following year.
